Privacy Policy
DRAFT: pending attorney review. Not published. Not in effect.
Effective date: October 24, 2026 Who we are: Market Primer is operated by Blake Baughman, a sole proprietor doing business as Market Primer. Market Primer publishes educational content about how markets work. Questions about this policy: hello@getmarketprimer.com.
What we collect and why
Email sign-up. If you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you choose to give it, your first name. We use them to deliver the free lesson you asked for. If you tick the optional box, we may email you new lessons, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
We collect this only when you choose to sign up. Your consent is the basis for using it, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.
Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you.
Basic technical data. Our website host may automatically log technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. That is used for security and to keep the site running. We don't use it to build profiles of visitors.
Payments (later). If we offer paid courses in the future, payment will be handled by a third-party checkout provider (such as Whop or Stripe). Market Primer does not receive or store your full card details. We may receive basic order information, such as your name, email, and what you bought, so we can give you access and provide support.
We don't sell your information
We don't sell your information. We don't share it with advertisers, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
Service providers we use
We use a small number of service providers to run Market Primer. They handle data on our behalf:
- Kit (email delivery): stores sign-up details and sends the free lesson you asked for.
- Google Workspace: our email, including hello@getmarketprimer.com.
- GitHub Pages: hosts this website and may log visitor IP addresses.
- YouTube (Google): plays embedded lesson videos via youtube-nocookie.com, only after you click play; may set cookies under Google's privacy policy.
- Payment provider (future), such as Whop or Stripe: processes payments if and when we offer paid courses.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How we send email
- Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
- We honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, and once you unsubscribe we stop emailing you. Unsubscribing is free and needs no login.
- Our emails identify Market Primer as the sender. Questions or requests: hello@getmarketprimer.com.
Cookies
This site does not set its own cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. Lesson videos are YouTube embeds served through youtube-nocookie.com with click-to-load: nothing from YouTube loads or sets cookies until you click play. After you click play, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy. If anything else changes, we'll update this policy first. Other third-party services (for example, a future sign-up form or checkout) may set their own cookies when you use them.
How long we keep it, unsubscribing, and deletion
- Unsubscribe anytime: use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or email us. It's free and needs no login.
- Retention: we keep your sign-up details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to help you. Order records may be kept longer if the law requires it.
- Access or deletion: email hello@getmarketprimer.com to ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Market Primer is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, email us and we'll delete the information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date above.
